We’re moving! (Down the hallway)

Starting December 1st, 2010, Kallsen Studio will be located at studio 401A in the Northrup King Building!

Yes, for those keeping score, this is the second move in 2010.  But it’s all for the good, just as the move in April was.  When we left the Thorp Building we were able to realize a dream of establishing ourselves in the Northrup King Building, arguably the top studio address in the Upper Midwest.  And our new (and soon to be old) space was sooooooooo cool … and big.

Grand visions of using the gallery space flourished.  We could hold top end events, have the art community upper crust wander the walls while eating fine cheeses and sipping their wine out of good stemware.  We could have musicians visit, and maybe even turn it into an emotional art center for many, where we could gather and chant and discuss and be all artsy-like.  With turtlenecks on.

Alas, there is just not enough time in the year for such building. Interestingly, we discovered something important about ourselves: if we have enough of our own walls to hang stuff on, we end up not taking it out and showing it around town.  Didn’t see that one coming!

For the last couple of weeks we’ve been working hard in the new, smaller space to make it ours.  Lots of painting, lots of electrical work, and lots of cleaning.  It’s going to be a gem of spot, with just enough room to work comfortably but not too much room to be too comfortable, if that makes sense.

More updates on the new space soon!
